Bunco!

Just announce it to the neighborhood!
Preparations
A gorgeous table setting

We were asked to sub and we gladly obliged. This month's theme was Anything February and what's the holiday of February.....Valentine's Day and love. So the gals brought gifts with a semblance of red, hearts, love, candy and anything else! Of course, the gifts paled in comparison to the passion of the game and winning.

A deilicious meal was provided (gals can't play hard on empty stomachs) and lots of chatting ensued prior to game play. This group of women likes to have fun and that's a good thing, because we do, too! Prizes were awarded for most games won, most smiley faces, most buncos, etc., but what's truly wonderful is that no one left feeling a loser. A gift exchange ended the evening and, if Steph was having a so-so evening game play-wise, she scored in the gift exchange!

One more thing: Upon departing, the host's husband commented that "you gals are loud." Now, I'll never - ever - understand how he can make this observation considering all the loud thunder, lightning and torrential downpour that ensued during our brief visit. He must've been watching an action movie on TV or something!

So, let the 26 photos tell the story and your comments are welcomed.

I've a lot about Bunco gatherings and have always been intrigued. Luckily for us, our neighbor Tonie needed two replacements and we filled the slots. It was really a lot of fun and I couldn't believe how fast game play was and how quickly the time passed. When we finished, we'd been playing about 1-1/2 hours and, because I'd had so much fun, I thought it surely had to be much later than it was.

Kudos to all the gals who helped us with the rules of game play and made us feel welcomed. These gals are one very happy bunch, who know how to have a helluva great time!

We departed Monterey Park promptly at 7:15 a.m. on a clear, warm day. We had a delicious breakfast of tamales and juice and then played Bingo and raffled prizes. Along the way we received our goodie bag and whiled away the time relaxing and playing. We never had time to get bored on the bus!

A mini pit stop in Barstow - too close to the outlets and so little time - and we were on the road again. Arriving at Stateline, the weather was warm but very tolerable. Especially since the three casinos (Buffalo Bills, Whiskey Pete's and Primm Valley) provided complimentary air conditioned shuttle bus and monorail service between the casinos!

Saturday (11/8/03) Snapshots Theme - Remembrance

Forest Lawn Memorial Mural
Wonderful quote by James Madison
This mural was the backdrop for the Veteran's Day ceremony held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park - Hollywood Hills, CA. It depicts many historical events of our country - including scenes of battle. God bless the men and women presently protecting our freedom and those who have made the ultimate sacrafice.
